Round-up
The best HYROX timer apps (2026)
There are two kinds of app people mean by a "HYROX timer": split timers that follow the race sequence during a full simulation, and general gym timers for the interval and station work that fills most training weeks. Here are honest picks of both, including where GRIT fits and where it doesn't.
GRIT is an independent workout timer. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by HYROX. App names below are shown as they appear on the App Store.

Race-simulation split timers
The race alternates eight 1 km runs with eight workout stations, with transitions in between. If you are rehearsing that sequence and want to know where the time goes, a split timer is the right tool.
RoxSplit: Hyrox Race Timer
Loads the run, Roxzone and station sequence with division presets, moves to the next segment with one tap and gives a summary of every run, station and transition. No login. A one-off Pro unlock adds target pace, saved race history, CSV export and an Apple Watch companion.
Hyrox Timer & Splits: Sledo
Also preloads the full sequence with a big clock, haptic cues and live splits for runs, stations and Roxzone, plus Doubles, Relay and custom sequences. Timing every race is free; Sledo Pro adds Apple Watch race mode, unlimited history, PR comparison and pace targets. Its listing says it is independent of the race organiser.
Hyrox Timer (Appipe)
Customisable countdowns for each station alongside an overall race timer, with a workout log. Premium is sold as a monthly, annual or lifetime purchase.
Gym timers for everyday training
Most sessions are not full simulations. They are timed intervals, station practice, or a set task against a cap. A general timer handles those well.
GRIT WOD Timer
Free with no account, subscription or in-app purchases. Use Intervals for repeated work and recovery, For Time with a cap for a run-and-station task, or Build a WOD to put station work, rest and a final task into one session. Show it on an iPad in landscape or a read-only AirPlay display across the gym, and save results and notes on your device. GRIT does not measure distance, recognise stations or produce race splits. Our HYROX training timer guide has three example setups.
SmartWOD Timer
A well-known functional-fitness timer whose listing mentions preparing for HYROX. AMRAP, EMOM, For Time, Tabata and a custom MIX timer, with Apple Watch and Chromecast. Free to download, with Premium subscriptions and an Ad-Free upgrade. See SmartWOD alternatives.
Seconds Interval Timer
A long-standing interval timer that reads each interval out loud and runs on Apple Watch without the phone. Each timer locks after its first run until you buy the one-off unlock.
Which should you choose?
Choose GRIT if…
You want one free timer for the interval, station and capped sessions in your plan, a big clock the whole class can see, and nothing to buy.
Choose a split timer if…
You are running full race simulations and want every run, station and transition split recorded. RoxSplit and Sledo are built for exactly that. You can use both kinds side by side.
For the race format, divisions and movement standards, use HYROX's official race overview and the official HYROX rulebooks.
FAQ
Is GRIT an official HYROX app?
No. GRIT is an independent timer for gym training, with no HYROX affiliation or endorsement. It does not provide official race timing or results.
Which app should I use to time a full race simulation?
A split timer that already knows the run, Roxzone and station sequence, such as RoxSplit or Sledo, records each segment with one tap. GRIT suits the interval, station and capped sessions that make up most training weeks.
Is there a free HYROX timer app?
GRIT is free with no account, subscription or in-app purchases. RoxSplit and Sledo time a full race free and sell optional Pro upgrades. Hyrox Timer by Appipe offers premium subscriptions. Check each App Store listing for current terms.
Does GRIT record run and station splits?
No. GRIT controls the clock for intervals, For Time and multi-block workouts and saves your result and notes locally. It does not measure distance, recognise stations or produce race splits.
