Your workout on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island
Start a workout in GRIT and the clock comes with you. On supported iPhones, workout time and phase stay visible on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island — compact at a glance, expanded on press.
What you see
- Compact: the round and the running clock sit either side of the Dynamic Island.
- Expanded: press and hold to see the round count, the phase (Work or Rest), the timer type, any time cap, a large clock and what comes next.
- Lock Screen: the same workout status on the Lock Screen, so you can check the time without unlocking.
- Colour-coded: green for work, red for rest, white when paused or finished — the same colours as the GRIT clock.
Why it helps
Change the music, log a weight or glance at a message mid-workout and the clock is still there. You don't need to keep GRIT on screen to know where you are in the session.
It runs with your GRIT timers, including a full workout built in Build a WOD, and alongside a large clock on a gym display.
Questions
Which iPhones show GRIT in the Dynamic Island?
The Dynamic Island appears on iPhone models that have one. On other supported iPhones, GRIT's Live Activity shows on the Lock Screen.
What does the Live Activity show?
The workout clock, the current phase such as Work or Rest, the round you are on, the timer type, the time cap where one is set, and what comes next.
Do I need to keep GRIT open?
No. Start the workout in GRIT, then lock your iPhone or switch app; the Live Activity keeps the time and phase visible. If it can no longer stay current, it asks you to open GRIT to continue.
Does it cost anything?
No. Live Activities are part of GRIT, which is free with no account, no subscription and no in-app purchases.
